His Holiness met privately with President Obama at the White House on more than one occasion during the President’s two terms. I had the privilege of accompanying His Holiness on those visits to Washington. The photographs from those rooms — quiet, undisplayed, mostly unmade — are some of the more difficult ones in the archive, in the sense that the rooms themselves were quiet and the images had to honor that.
