We were in Vancouver in late January for the Nobel Women’s Summit. The stage held seven of the most influential moral voices of our time — His Holiness and six women who had each, in their way, refused to accept that violence was inevitable. I made the picture quickly. The light was harsh; the moment was short. What carries the photograph is who is in it.
